Nick Kyrgios was forced to pull out of a warm-up match due to a struggle with asthma.
Formerly number 13 in the world, Kyrgios withdrew from another match just hours before the game which was set to take place at the Rod Laver Arena.
With reports speculating about the state of his health, Kyrgios took to Instagram to explain to fans what led to his withdrawal.
“Hey guys, I just wanted to give you an update on how I’ve been feeling the last couple days. I’ve had numerous Covid tests and all come back negative,” he said on Wednesday 5th January. "Whatever I’ve got at the moment is really wearing me down, kind of been bedridden for the last couple of days. Really struggling to breathe, my asthma has been acting up like crazy."
